WE LIVE UNDER THIS MOUNTAIN
Our guides were raised in Moshi and Arusha, in the villages that sit on Kilimanjaro’s lower slopes. They learned these routes before they ever guided on them, and they know which camps catch the wind and which stretch of the Barranco Wall slows a group down.
That is the whole difference. When you book KissRock you are not buying a package assembled overseas and handed to a local subcontractor. You are hiring the crew directly.
- Six Kilimanjaro routes operated in-house
- Own fleet of fitted Land Cruisers — no rented vehicles
- Every permit, transfer and camp arranged by our own office
Why KissRock
SIX REASONS TRAVELLERS BOOK DIRECT
There are hundreds of operators on this mountain. Here is what separates the ones who live here from the ones who resell it.

Our guides grew up in Moshi and Arusha. They know every secret trail on Kilimanjaro and read the seasonal migration across the Serengeti by instinct, not by guidebook.

Live from our guides
WHERE IS THE MIGRATION RIGHT NOW?
Two million wildebeest move in a loop all year. Booking the right month matters more than booking the right park — our guides update this as the herds move.
Happening now
July – October
Mara River Crossings
The herds mass on the northern Serengeti and cross the Mara. This is the window for crossings and the heaviest big-cat action of the year.
November – December
Short Rains, Southward
The short rains pull the herds down through the eastern Serengeti towards the Ndutu plains. Quieter parks, greener light, lower rates.
January – March
Calving On The Ndutu Plains
Thousands of calves born daily on the short-grass plains, with predators drawn in behind them. The best months for cheetah and hyena.
Safety assured
THE MOUNTAIN IS SERIOUS. SO ARE WE.
Altitude is the single biggest reason climbs fail. Here is exactly what we do about it.
Twice-Daily Health Checks
Pulse-oximeter readings and lung checks every morning and evening, logged on a chart your guide carries.
Emergency Oxygen On Every Climb
Portable oxygen cylinders and a full first-aid kit travel with the crew from gate to summit.
WFR-Certified Lead Guides
Every lead guide holds a current Wilderness First Responder certificate and can call an evacuation.
Four-Season Camp Setup
Weatherproof four-season tents, insulated sleeping mats and a heated dining tent at every camp.
Before you ask
STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Do I need a visa to travel to Tanzania?
Most travellers apply for an e-Visa online before departure, or buy one on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). It costs $50 for most nationalities and $100 for US passport holders.
How much should I tip my guides and porters?
We recommend $20 per day for your lead guide, $15 per day for assistant guides and $8–$10 per day per porter, pooled across your group. Your guide explains the split at the briefing.
What is your deposit and cancellation policy?
A $200 deposit per person reserves your trek or safari and locks your dates. The balance is payable on arrival in Arusha, in USD cash or by card.
Can I combine Kilimanjaro with a safari and Zanzibar?
That is the most popular way to do it. A typical combination runs 7–8 days on the mountain, 3–4 days on safari and 4 days on the coast. We handle every transfer and the flight to Zanzibar.
How fit do I need to be to climb Kilimanjaro?
Kilimanjaro is a long walk at altitude, not a technical climb. If you can walk 5–6 hours on consecutive days, you can do it. Training on hills with a loaded daypack helps most.
